Retiring

I think I retired from the Army today. I jumped through all the hoops, got the requisite paperwork, and finally, which means more to me than anything else in this process, with some Chaplains, Assistants, and family members, saluted the Colors at Retreat, went back to my hotel room and took off my uniform. It was all together a symbolic act: I am no longer in the active duty Army; I am no longer an active duty soldier. It may take a while for this to sink in.
